Yutyrama ('The
Country of the Mountains', from Old Tupi
ybytyra 'mountain' and etama 'land')
is located in the Amazon rainforest, between
French Guyana and the Brazilian state of Amapá.
As its motto states, the country is known as the
land of kaharekwá or 'the guardians of
the forest', considering its vocation to protect
the environment. Ecotourism and a sustainable
agricultural production and workmanship are the
basis of the Yutyraman economy.
